Randolph College is fortunate to have an extensive collection of diverse fossil types, ranging from casts of plant material to mammoth teeth. Recently, our core collection, which dates to the early 1900s, was augmented by two generous donations: one from Dr. Christopher Goldman, retired professor of Political Science, and another from Virginia Wyatt, a local teacher and geologist. Dr. Goldman’s collection comprises local specimens from his forays into the Blue Ridge Mountains and West Virginia. Mrs. Wyatt’s collection is the result of her extensive travels through North America, and includes beautifully preserved deciduous plant material, dinosaur bones from British Columbia, and much more.
